Leadership Wilkes 2009 is a program sponsored by the Wilkes Chamber of Commerce to develop a group of informed, committed, and qualified individuals capable of providing visionary and progressive leadership for Wilkes.
The program is an in-depth study of management styles, personalities, and involved activities to illustrate positive leadership opportunities. Taking place over an eight month period, Leadership 2009 participants have a chance to tour facilities, participate in informative seminars, and are enlightened to the resources available to them in Wilkes County.
Once participants have completed Leadership, they will be well informed, and have a foundation for implementing their knowledge and skills to become a progressive citizen and leader.
The Leadership Wilkes 2009 Program will begin with an all day retreat and Alumni luncheon on Friday, August 7. Sessions 2 though 15 will be from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm on alternating Friday’s with final class ending on March 19, 2010. Click here for the schedule.
Area leaders in business, government, education, health care, industry, and tourism enlighten participants on the resources available to Wilkes County citizens. During each session the group will look at topics ranging from crime and law to community infrastructure.
The program culminates with a graduation ceremony for participants, their guests, and alumni from previous classes.
Requirements: Participants are encouraged to attend all Leadership 2009 sessions including graduation. Absence from any portion of a session is considered an absence for the day. Attendance reflects the commitment necessary to receive a meaningful experience from your investment in the program.
Casual dress is recommended at all sessions.
Tuition: Tuition for the program is $600 and covers the cost of meals, refreshments, travel, and graduation. Non-profit organizations may qualify for partial financial aid. Please indicate scholarship need on the application.
To Apply: Enrollment in the Leadership Wilkes Program is limited. Candidates are selected on the basis of their previous and potential leadership ability and community involvement.
